A Beautiful Renovation -
September 2004
Seven of my Fitzsimons cousins, four living in England, one
returned from Australia, one living in County Down, and one in New Zealand,
inherited a small cottage in Ardglass from their mother.
Over the last couple of months it has been renovated - re-roofed and
water-proofed and central heating installed.
Two small rooms and a corridor that occupied the ground floor have been combined
to produce a lounge-dining room, and the girls have made curtains, refurbished
old furniture and decorated throughout.
It really looks well - a perfect renovation.

An
interesting consequence of my Aunt Alice - their mother - leaving this small
property to six of her nine children is the somewhat humorous and very realistic
decision by all of them that to dispose of the property to their numerous
children and grandchildren would just be ludicrous. One-sixty-fourth of a
small cottage would be pretty useless!
SO - they are all agreed, there will be a life lottery. The last joint
owner standing, after the rest are interred, will be outright owner! great
scheme! I hope they don't start knocking each other off!
