Some reactions to
Speakers' Corner
Some might call this an Awards Page
- but what are Awards but somebody's Opinions?
If you feel like it let me have yours - by email -
and I'll pop it in here. (But
beware! I may have an opinion about your opinion, 'specially if it ain't
nice!)
Hooray! DORAS (Irish Telecom's review of all
Sites Irish on the Internet) have recently upgraded Speakers' Corner to a 3-Shamrock
Award,
J
Doras still insist that "design elements could perhaps be improved"
"design elements could perhaps be improved"
Come off it guys! Have
another look! And,
more importantly, ask yourselves why a serious attempt
to analyse and understand the nature of life and death is awarded 3-Shamrocks
while an offbeat site about modern Irish paganism is awarded 5!
Must be the site design! Can't be the
content! Theology, even of the limited standard of
Speakers' Corner, has an inherently greater value than mindless pagan mysticism, earth
worship and/or varieties of parroted christianity.
OK! I agree absolutely with the
Doras Editor that 'Speakers' Corner' is "unrepentantly opinionated"
- but not thoughtlessly so! Don't people enjoy thinking any more -
asking questions, seeking truthful answers? It would appear not. Sad for
Ireland. Sad for the world.I agree absolutely with the

THIS IS WHAT DORAS SAY ABOUT "Speakers' Corner"! Speaker's Corner features articles on a wide
range of spiritual aspects - and includes writing on the nature of evil, the Virgin birth,
St. Patrick, predestination, and more. In addition, the site includes poetry, links, and a
"fun" section. While the site offers opinion on several contentious issues, Mr.
O'Shea is not without a sense of humour, which thankfully lightens the tone somewhat.
While design elements could perhaps be improved, this remains an easily navigable and
unrepentantly opinionated website. We are sure Mr. O'Shea would agree! Absolutely! (See above) You can visit DORAS - Gaelic for 'DOOR' - at:

Here are some other opinions that I like -

'lo Michael! I've returned to visit your webspace more times than I can count. I've
enjoyed reading your "book"! Your words make me smile from the inside out. I
don't know how or why I stumbled onto your Speaker's Corner the first time and bookmarked
it to return and read more later...I still haven't read all of it, but some parts I've
re-read several times...but your writings stir emotion and feeling that serves to broaden
and expand my own faith! You speak truths I know in my heart, but was never ......
