Days Like This  - All at Sea!   November 2007

A few days ago I submitted  to the BBC  a suggested item for  Radio Ulster's series "Days Like This".
This programme, broadcast each day on Radio Ulster is, as the BBC puts it, "a compendium of personal stories about days that were special. Some are upbeat or funny, some reflective or wistful. Many are thought provoking."
My initial script was too long, and I had to reduce it from seven minutes to around three minutes. Very hard to do - cut one's little baby in half!   Blood and tears everywhere! But I have to admit that the shorter version reads better.
Listen to both if you wish - and have the time. (Double-click the large arrow button on the left of each control panel.)

Listen with Mother - if you are afraid!

This recording perhaps presents a more evocative picture of my experience, but it is certainly too long for this particular radio programme.

This is the shorter recording, rather more forceful and coherent.  No guarantee that the BBC will use it.

BBC Northern Ireland  Days Like This
is broadcast
Sun - Fri at 11.55 a.m. & 11.55 p.m.,
