The Joy of Transport GETTING HOME TO KILLOUGH

Letter to the Editors, Down Recorder & Down Democrat  Sunday 5th March 2006

Sir,
Will Killough residents ask themselves who in their household had a night out in Ardglass last Saturday, and enquire if  it could have been a member of their family who - instead of taking a taxi or walking to Killough - lifted my old car from outside my house in Ardglass and deposited it near Point Road in the condition depicted?

It was not much of a car - a 14-year-old Nissan Micra - but as a 74-year old pensioner it was all I could afford.
The person who stole and destroyed this personal asset will not, of course, admit responsibility. It is the way of the cowardly thief to hide in the dark. But it would do no harm if a family member raised the question.  It might even do some good, for we all must face up to our misdeeds, eventually.
Strange thing is, this is the third time someone from Killough - or on the way to it - has stolen a car that I owned.  A Ford Prefect ended up in the Lakes at Killough and then my best ever car, a beautiful little Mazda 323, was also driven off and burnt out (by a person I know but cannot name for legal reasons).
I am beginning to get fed up!
There are a few who drink on a Saturday night to drown knowledge of their miserable little selves. They badly need help.
Yours,

Michael O'Shea, 36 High Street, Ardglass

OK Lord! I get the message: "Get up and on your feet and start walking!"
